I thought I would show you the way that I create a new oil painting. I love the paintings by Gary Jenkins and thought I would have a go at painting a floral similar to the ones that he and his wife Kathrwyn do. So I found a suitable canvas and painted a background in Acrylic. This has two advantages in that it dries quickly and is cheaper covering a large expanse than oils. Once dried I coated it lightly with linseed oil and rubbed off the excess with kitchen paper. Then changed oils and blocked in my peonies and some of the foilage. Having assessed this I left it to dry for a few days.
